If there is someone that can help me get this into my gimp...I will be more than happy to give you my phone number so you can call or I call you and walk me thur this.

I have windows xp and the newest version of gimp if that matters.

Thank you, I have tried every download available for newest version and it doesn't work..I'm wondering if I put a older version, if it will update to the new filters..all I want is the polka dot and snowflake.grrr I have never had problems downloading something.

Are you closing and re-opening gimp after you put the plug-in into the plug-ins folder?

What version of gimp are you using?

I'm using the newest version of gimp..I think I found a download the the gmic 1.4.0.0 downloaded it and it was there just grey...so I went to edit preference,folder,plugins, etc etc and now I have NO filters..grrrrrrrr

I don't understand what you did in the plugins folder in preferences. There should be two links in there. Did you delete them? Your filters are probably all still there but if the links are gone, gimp can't find them.

You must have an image open in gimp to be able to use gmic or it will be grayed out.

Ok I just did a search for gmic on my computer, every where that I download says to put in program files...and now that came up in search were there..they are all showing in doc and settings...????

Should be \Documents & Settings\<yourname>\.gimp-2.6\plug-ins

In gimp, please click Help > About and give me the version of gimp it says you are using.

on the download site it says, program files...thats why i'm confused..2 different places..lol

This from the link you put in this post.

On Windows, the plug-in directory is usually located at C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.x\lib\gimp\2.0\plugins\.
Required libraries files are provided in the archive for Windows.
