Bonjour,

This script-fu is the application of a concept for creating patterns, static or dynamic brushes from an image.
Brushes and patterns are saved in the “preferences directory” if the backup option is enabled.
This script-fu uses the plug-in "Twist version 2.1".
Download viewtopic.php?f=7&t=6732

This is just one example, I do not know if it can be useful.

Filters > Misc > Concept > Twist Various Creations 1 ...

Edit 20130326 : + documentation
Edit 20130327 : script-fu version 20130327

Samj the problem with having to delete the pluginrc file can be averted by first deleting the old twist.exe file and restarting gimp then adding the new twist.exe file and restarting gimp or if you renamed the new twist plugin twist1 or twist_2.8 etc

the script was definitely fun to explore

The patterns created are! interesting especially when combined with other filters and mathmap

I'm looking forward to seeing more scripts of this type

Bonjour,

:tyspin Graechan

I perhaps forgot to mention the need to remove the old plug-inTwist.
There is no problem to delete this old plug-in because it does not work.

About this script-fu:
- This is just an example to present an idea: create a variety of resources from an image.
- I am creating a presentation in the day.

Brushes and patterns are automatically saved if the option is enabled ("Save pattern or brush").
They become brushes - patterns - gradients , by default and can be used directly : for example, brushes on a new image with paintbrush tool , Pencil tool , etc.

- pluginrc
You can delete all pluginrc files

- Do I delete the butterfly_twist.scm?
It is not necessary.

- Where is the backup option to enable it?
This is indicated in red on the image.

Great, very great - your new script!
A very interesting option - save the settings.
Probably it is not possible for a script-fu - the option to load settings?

@MareroQ

It is not possible to save a text and read a text directly.
It is possible :
- Save the texts of the console.
- Save texts into layers "text" in xcf image and "read" with : (gimp-text-layer-get-text layer).

Samj - You are great at writing programs!
Once again, thank you very much.
Whine - the option to load it almost recording (action for Adobe Photoshop ?)...
So, again I ask - if you can (because you write a lot) to develop a version of the option - for plug-in (*. exe)?

... so where did I go wrong? I wanted results but didn't want to save yet. Wanted to play with the script a bit.
Got error messages. Putting up the settings I used also. In case it makes any difference, I'm using Fedora17, Linux.

@ Oregonian

The problem is surely Fedora, it is a Linux distribution that is not very well prepared.
I will install a virtual machine and test with the latest version of Fedora 64-bit.
The script works fine on other Linux distributions...

@Oregonian

I installed the latest version of Linux Fedora 18 Spherical Cow 64 + Gimp 2.8.4 + Twist plugin version 2.1 + Script-Fu Twist_Various_Creations_1.scm

Must be made "twist" executable .

With my tests everything works fine: twist and script-fu.

That's all I can say about Fedora.

@Molly

This is not an error, it indicates where the pattern is saved and the name of the pattern.

We could do that Graechan, Fedora 18 is out now but Fedora 19 is coming out in Aug. so we will probably wait till then, I think.

I've never made an .scm file executable. Only .py plug-ins.
