This plugin has been written specifically so that it can be configured through the .INI without changing the code(*).

What about my question? Can the plug-in be modified to keep the system font files separate from the font sets?

The plugin manages add-ons. The system fonts are not add-ons so the plugin does nothing with them, and they will always show up n Gimp's font list.

Where did you enable the add-on for the other add-ons then? if there is no ini file, everything is enabled by default.

I just placed the addonmanager in my molly/plug-ins folder and it worked. If I have an ini file, where do I find it? I looked everywhere I can think of.

Ok, I understand that, but is there a way to keep them separate, like in a folder by themselves so they aren't spread among the addons?

One thing with fonts they do have to be zipped here.

Fonts don't need to be zipped. If you are on Linux you can just keep them as plain files in directories. That makes the switch faster because in that case the AOM just sets up links to activate the fonts.

They are in their own folders already (/usr/share/fonts on Linux). But Gimp will always include them in its fonts list and there is little you can do about that on Linux (on Windows, I heard there is a way to alter the font catalog used by Gimp).

If they bother you, you can uninstall them (I have removed several).

Thank you for your answer.
I would like to remove several but I am afraid to in case they are important ones that have to stay there. What about all those symbols? Do they have to stay there?

If you remove fonts you will just get some missing character display (usually a question mark in a diamond). But instead of getting rid of the symbols, get rid of all the fonts for the languages you don't use ...

If You want to remove fonts from system fonts folder on Win there is a good and quick way to move almost all unnecessary fonts. It should only leave crucial system fonts and couple others.
All fonts will be back-up´d to another location. I use this to keep system fonts folder clean to be able manage fonts better, not in Gimp because You can edit system folder from fonts.conf but in my other apps which read from Windows/Fonts.
The batch file to tidy your system font folder is called 2manyfonts.

My addon brush manager has quit working. None of my brush folders will load anymore. My Font one still works. How can that be?
I don't get any error, it just doesn't do anything. I will really miss that if I can't get it fixed.
In the dialogue, it still shows the brush sets.

Can you show the contents of the brushes and brushes_storage directories?

1) show me the contents of the ".active" file in the brushes_storage
2) show me the contents of the addonCollectionManager.ini in the plus-ins directory of your profile.
3) erase the .active file and see if this fixes anything
4) start Gimp from a command line, use the add-on manager, and check messages in the terminal from which you started it (copy/paste them here)
5) activate one set, check that a subdirectory of the same name appears in the brushes directory and show the contents here

@ofnuts, I started to do all that and when I deleted the active.txt, everything will load now. Gees, how does that file get in there anyway?

So I don't have to post all that stuff now?

No if it works its OK. The .active file is maintained by the plugin. That's how it remembers which brushes it activates (and so which ones it can de-activate). It must have gone out of sync for some reason, containing most/all your sets despite the empty active brushes directory.

Molly sometimes I find it does go out of sync, in which case I delete the brushes in my added brushes folder and clear the .active file
