Animated Water Bling Tutorial by RMDesigns
Created with GIMP 2.8.16
Think of this tutorial in 3 steps. Water Animation, Bling Text, Background with Shadow and Border Layer.
Step 1. Create a transparent image 450x200 and fill with the Water 1 pattern. Go to Filters>Animation>Waves and create an animation with 6 frames. I used 6.0 for the Amplitude and Wave length.
Step 2. Time to create your Bling text. The font is Paint Peel, Pixel Size: 130, Bling Type: Sparkle, Stroke Width: 0, Background Layer: None, (Drop) Shadow Color: 2e6782. Check Semiflatten Shadow and Keep All Layers. Click OK. Merge Down each Logo Layer into the Drop Shadow Layer below it and Autocrop Image.
Drop the 3 Bling layers into the Water animation placing them above Frame 1-3. Duplicate each of the 3 layers to go above Frame 4-6. Be sure to keep them in order. Merge the Bling Text layers into each Frame Layer. You should now have 6 Frame layers.
Optional Border: If you want to add a border as I did create another 450x200 image and fill it with the Water 1 pattern. Flatten the image and add the border of your choice. I use Filters Unlimited 2.0. Use the Rectangle Select Tool to outline the image area you want transparent. Go to Layer>Transparency>Color to Alpha. Select color to remove and click OK. Drop the Border into the animation placing it under Frame 1.
Step 3. Now let’s adjust the canvas size. Go to Image>Canvas Size and adjust size to 550x300. Click Center then Resize. Create a new layer and fill with the Water 1 pattern. Place the Background to the bottom. Go to Frame 1, right click and select Alpha to Selection. Go down to the Background layer and press delete.
Go up to Frame 1 and add the Drop Shadow. (Filters>Light and Shadow>Drop Shadow). I used offset x-y: 0, Radius: 25, Opacity: 80. Lower the Drop Shadow above the Background layer and merge down. Merge Down the Border if you added one. Go to Filters>Animation>Overlay Background. Delete the bottom layer.
Now optimize for GIF, go to Filters>Animation>Optimize (for GIF). Next you need to index the image by clicking on Image>Mode>Indexed>. Color Map should read 255 colors. Under Dithering>Color Dithering select Positioned and click Convert.
Now you’re ready to save the image. File>Export As>Name your file with the gif extension, click Export, check As Animation under GIF Options and click Export. Have fun and keep your sanity!

This is the Water 1 pattern I used.
