This custom font tool applies the bevel reflect logo script (version 1.7), which must be on your system together with ML Bevel Reflect, to all the characters in a custom font file. All the hard work done by GnuTux, originally in 2013, and lately by MareroQ can now be used to add delicious, highlighted bevels to your custom fonts.

After you download, unzip and install the plugin to your user folder it can be run from:

Filters>>Custom Font Tools>>Custom Font Bevel Reflect...

There is more information and some resources to play with on GimpLearn.

GimpLearn Filter Page Link

Edit to add another version:

This version of the plug-in works with version 1.6 of the Bevel Reflect Logo script.

You can use it to either decorate plain custom font faces with various emaps or to add highlights to existing fancy custom font faces.

Example BRLed custom font:

I also like doing it manually as needed on text or whatever.

Nice outcome Racer.

Yeah - horses for courses. Little point in using this for small amounts of text.
But for custom font purposes it seems to do the business.

Just a bump really to draw attention to the newly added version (to post #1) of the plug-in that will work with version 1.6 of the BRL script. Some people do not want to install version 1.7 of BRL.

I used this to make some stormy custom fonts. Here's an example after an Extrude 3-D treatment.

Without regret, I can remove BRL V.1.7 at any time - because it's probably best to fix it again with active GnuTux (although it's silent again :( ).

@Skinnyhouse.
Initially I was hoping you completely converted the script into a Python plugin - after the good new plugins I think you probably have four hands already? :hehe
Since I have four new eyes, I saw on Gimp Learn in the Custom Font Bevel Reflect for Gimp 2.10 thread the promotion of the old version of gimpfu (made for Gimp-2.8).
I won't mention where you can download (for almost a month) 2 newer versions of gimpfu.py to try. ;)

MareroQ:
:tyspin Thank you for your comments - was thinking I had not seen you about for a while - now I know why! You have been busy. :cofscreen

I hadn't thought about converting to Python :geeking - I hardly ever use scriptfu and have to almost relearn it every time I convert - although GTux's script is very well commented.

Just off to download the new gimpfu! :jumpclap

I blame you MareroQ :hehe

The bulk of the work to convert to Python has been done and making changes to apply the MLBRL2 to custom fonts has made significant improvements to speed issues (can never of course alter the speed of the BRL plug-in). So for example a 50 character custom font file sees an increase in speed on my machine from 17 mins 11 sec to 10 mins 22 secs (approx times).

Have taken the opportunity to add one or two options (such as using xcf files to hold emaps for different groups of characters - see below) specific to custom fonting and now just looking at testing non-English character compatibility. GnuTux made so many options available it has taken ages to test every option.

I want to openly thank a group of members of this forum who are so talented and generous for sharing their achievements of research and effort but also their time with the rest.
Thank you all. Everybody knows who you are. :tyspin :jumpclap :tyspin
