I don't know if GnuTux still frequents this forum, but my thanks to him for creating this Logo Toolbox. :clap

Also my thanks to you MareroQ for updating it and assisting the gimper community.

Thank you so much guys! :tyspin

Hi Krikor.

Thanks to You, this plugin works as it should - because You reported the problem first. :hi5
Unfortunately, I do not have the time (or patience  ) to test all introduced changes properly.

So you did a fix on (from) Version 2.3 direct to >3?

What about 2.4? you jumped it, is it a fork?

It would be nice to have more explanations about the difference between those 2 scripts... :bigthup

Thank you very much for your answer :bigthup

The one in here /Filters/Alpha to Logo" cut the image... > I have an image, write some text on a new layer above >> result my BG is now cut to the size of the text....

PixLab,
Before applying the plugin, with alpha selected on the desired text layer, do: Layer To Image Size.

I use version 2.4 that MareroQ has fixed (currently testing version 2.10.28 Samj's Portable).

I am glad that the "new forces" have made further attempts to repair.
When one plug maintainer is missing, however, it does get messy.
In 2018 TT released plug 3.0 (but not here, with one fix because it was enough).
It wasn't until 2020 that I introduced version 2.4. (over 60 corrections mainly related to old procedures).
The Vitforlinux version is a patch to version 3.0 (but the old procedures remain - because they still work).
In order for it to work in GIMP-2.99, in addition to the fixes from 2.4, you need to add 40 more - and the result is not very good for most settings.
So a question for Vitforlinux:
Will you undertake the slimming of Logo-Toolbox (elimination of malfunctioning options) ???

Is the 2.4 version still the version to use or is there a newer version out and ready to use?

If You have additional plugins (from Gimp-2.8) 2.4 is the most up-to-date.
If not, test 3.1.
There are no other versions.

I don't think I have additional plugins from 2.8, so I'll be sticking with 2.4.

@MareroQ 1- I can't agree more.
Thanks a lot MareroQ for your answer, the history, and examples, which IMHO are very important, I very much appreciated your answer and clear explanations!
Now I know that's not the same script. :tyspin

@Krikor Thanks a lot for your input :bigthup even though as a "user" I should not have to do that... ;) I very much appreciated your tip, again thank you very much Krikor :tyspin

In case it can help scriptwriters...
On the MareroQ's attachment G-2.10.28.png (not working), you shall not need the GIMP 2.8 plugin.

What I see is a typical size problem between the map and the text layer or because the map and the layer to be mapped are not at the same size (thus coordinates are different), this seems to have appeared in GIMP 2.10 (but seriously it's too long I'm on 2.10 to recall 2.8 behavior)

Solution: if from the start everything would be set at "layer to image size" the mapping will work or when you "Create" your text, immediately after > lose text info > Layer to image size > the same for the map > then now you can select, map it, whatever it, without the map be partial on the text :)

Hi Patrice.

When it started - when Gegl started (gradually) taking over more plugs and plugs became procedure (but Gegl based) many plugins stopped working so it seems the problem lies somewhere in Gegl (but I can't prove it) or completely a different approach to selections in procedures?
I don't know - I don't know enough about it.
Your comments and remarks explain many problems to me (but that doesn't mean I can fix it).
As for the version - it is almost the same (only the numbering is mixed up).
Hopefully Vitforlinux will complete the repairs soon. :hi5

I did a quick test to prove my theories.
Simple script-fu for 'procedure' plug-in-plasma use.
When unchecked works fine.
Works badly with selection.
Now a decision is needed - what to do next.
It's light years to report a bug and pending repair. :hehe
Remove from script plasma and patchwork(plasma+cubism) or use with old plugin (plasma.exe from Gimp-2.8)???

Thank you for all the information on this MareroQ and vitforlinux :tyspin

It looks like a selection messes up the offsets so the plasma is in the wrong place. The bug should be reported, I don't know if it has been.

For people (like me) that don't want to install the old plugins a quick and dirty cheat is to make the item(s) to logo on a transparent layer the same size as the image, add a blob in the top left hand corner, if any selection do Select None, run Filter -> Alpha to Logo -> Logo Toolbox, and then delete the blob. That way there are no offsets for it to muck up :hehe

I know that's scrappy but better than deleting the plasma and other options. Please don't delete them.

Hi Teapot.
You have a brilliant solution again. :clap
This can be done programmatically - add one transparent pixel at position (0,0) before applying plasma.
Vitforlinux - will You take care of it?

It will be very difficult to create versions for 2.10 and 2.99 at the same time (eg at the moment gimp-drawable-width is completely replaced with gimp-drawable-get-width - maybe there will be some adjustments for backwards compatibility - but I doubt it).
Let's fix it for 2.10 in a simple way:
just before using the plasma (add to the selection):
(gimp-rect-select img 0 0 1 1 0 0 0)

after using the plasma (subtract from the selection).
(gimp-rect-select img 0 0 1 1 1 0 0)

Please do this - and let it stay 3.2 :hehe

Just a heads up: If you use a previous plugin before using the logo tool box plugin you have new underlying text in the logo tool box layers dock, just background layer of the logo tool box.
