Dear friends,

I need to use a few Photoshop plugins with Gimp 2.8.2 under Windows 7-64bits.

I have read on a dedicated topic that I should first install PSPI.exe in the Gimp plugins directory, and then PSPI.exe will add a new feature to define where the photoshop plugins are located.

I have copied PSPI.EXE as explained, but when I start Gimp, I get the following error message:
"The entry point of the gdk_cairo_set_source_window cannot be found in the lobgdk_win32_-2.0-0.dll dynamic library"
and of course I do not get the new features that PSPI.exe is supposed to add to Gimp 2.8.2.

Is there a way to fix it, or another solution to use the photoshop plugins in Gimp 2.8.2 ??
Thanks for your help

Hello nounours!
PSPI works just fine in 64-bit gimp 2.8 Win 7.
I don't know what instructions you followed, i always put pspi in .gimp-2.8/plugins folder.
pspirc is in my user folder too.

Search this site for a solution to your problem, I believe one PSPI related question was answered here just recently.
Keep in mind though, pspi supports only some of the 32-bit .8bf photoshop plugins (not all of them)

If you still having problems with pspi, you can try IrfanView or XnView programs.
They have built-in Adobe 8bf support which is way better than pspi.
You can also send pictures from gimp to IView and XnV via ShellOut plugin.

I put all PS plugins in one IrfanView plugin folder from where I can use them in
other programs like GIMP, Photoshop, etc. all you need to do is make a path to this folder
in gimp, PS user preferences.

Hope it helped.

Hi Nounours18. Check for a duplicate libgdk_win32_-2.0-0.dll - if one is in the plugins folder (user data resources), remove it.

Running PSPI -
What i do is create a folder somewhere in the plug-ins folder (user data resources), and name it Photoshop-Filters.
Then i place the 8BF files in their own sub-folders under that one.Open Gimp-2.8 and go to Filters>Photoshop-Plugin-Settings and add the path to the SUB-FOLDER under Photoshop-Filters.You will have to do this with each new filter you add.Placing them all in the same folder and adding just one path will not work.
I have most of the 8bf's working including many commercial ones.See screenshot below.

If you need certain plugins to work tell me which ones and i will show you how to get them working.

That's what i do too, Rod. :bigthup
It's important thing to do to have pspi to work.
I didn't go into details, thought nounone would figure that out.

One thing I have found of late is that some of my psp tubes will open without any help in GIMP. I havent been able to differentiate the reason for this and its only from one tuber this happens. I'm thinking it could be the extension she uses but then I have tried others with the same extension and they dont open so its got me beat.

Just remember; not all PS filters will work with PSPI (broke I believe back in 2.6.9 (or 2.6.10 or one of those versions) and it never got repaired. The previews were messed up on many of those plugins anyway. Best to have python installed an run the shellout plugin using a program like XNView as a surrogate for your PS plugins. :)

Apparently it's fixed, I redownloaded it and put it where it said, not plugins anymore and all of my ps filters work now.

Are you using 1.0.7 GMS? :)
I am using the latest 1.0.7 binary executable, and i have it in my USER_PATH/.gimp-2.8/plug-ins folder.

Thank you guys, I love the new "single window" feature of Gimp 2.8, but I cannot afford to waste my time in fixing this pb (it seems that the DLL is missing, and I see no reason why it is not automatically installed with Gimp....), or more exactly I cannot afford to not have ALL my plugins running on my photo editing program...

So I have to switch to a more compatible program, such as Paint Shop pro X5 (as the initial target was to avoid any Adobe program).

Have you searched for libgdk-win32-2.0-0.dll on your system? You should have a copy in Gimp 2\bin.

Hello Everyone, I've been using gimp for about 2 months now and just recently downloaded 2.9 and I'm have trouble getting pspi.exe to work. I've read every post and place the .exe file in every plugin folder there is along with the photoshop plug-in but I still get the error message that it will not start. Am I completely missing something?

Did you create a path to it?

It say's my file-jpeg.exe - System Error. This program can't start because the libjpeg-9.dll is missing from your computer, but I see it in my gimp2.8/frameworks folder.
