Well Graechan, I did actually get into the garden this morning and you will never guess what I found on one of my roses ... I've not used one of your scripts here but I know you will understand why I just had to post this !!!

Well Graechan, not just a script coder but a rose enthusiast too! That was truly one of my roses, but yes a few weeks back; I have over 20 standard roses and most of them are in full bloom too except notably, 2 aromatic David Austin roses, that always seem to be about 4/5 weeks behind the others, despite being in all day sun. They are just budding right now.

Hey and just one more pencil shade script offering ..

Do you have to have the latest gimp to run this script? I have the latest G'MIC.
The result i always end up with is just neon edge effect. After about 3 goes.

I have gimp 2.8.10
G'MIC 1.6.0.1 Windows 32 bit

Hi Sallyanne - for my part I have GIMP 2.8.14 and G'MIC 1.6.0.1 Windows 64 bit; but what I am doing is taking the output from 'swirls' and using it as a base image for further manipulation - basically experimenting.

For example in the image below the original output was a light blue/grey neon effect, then I duplicated it colorized the duplicate and overlaid the original photo in color mode @100% opacity.

Image

I also just now tried one from a NASA shot and just overlaid the output from swirls with the original in burn mode.

Image

Anyway hope that helps in some way!

Couldn't resist "wisping" your roses, Graechan.

Sallyanne the script was written in 2013 so your gimp should be OK
'O' my roses look better wisped

Graechan - first flower opened on the David Austin roses this morning so I thought it also deserved to be wisped. The tall kangaroo paw behind it are about to flower so I will probably wisp them too!

Seeing all these beautiful outcomes I couldn’t resist experimenting with it myself.
Great script, Graechan!

Long haired animals look great when wisped - especially our now passed away favourite borzoi.

edit ... modified the image; liked the original outcome so much I added a frame to it

Hooray for long-haired, wispy animals at Halloween! This is a very mild-mannered kitty as you can tell by his portrait:

That is so cool, Acmespace. Nice use of dinasset's glass frame, too. Love your "wicked" looking kitty.

I think I have it now. Just wasn't patient enough before. The dream smoothing takes a while.
Not tried any large pics yet

Spending time learning/playing with a number of scripts/filters contributed by Gimp Chat gurus; focussed on a set of night photos of a well known local building, shot during the Vivid Light festival. Thank God there is no tax (yet) on taking much pleasure in using these Gimp tools.

Thanks again to Graechan, Rod, Dinasset et al for making these tools for us.
