Krikor that's nice, looks little like Premonition movie cover.
How did you get the result on the right?

@Graechan.

I can confirm too.
No hassle on my old computer (4 Gb RAM).
Script-fu with a scroll bar.
The 4000x4000 image was rendered in ~ 12s (Wisps)
The 1024x685 image was rendered in ~ 3s (Pencil dog)
The size of the photo is probably not important - because before it is made in GMIC, it is cleverly scaled (up or down - depending on the input dimensions).

@GnuTux.

In my script-fu compilation with a scroll bar, I am not compiling your script-fu-interface.c file from 6 years ago.
Instead, I put your corrections into the current file.

@Sallyanne

It is possible that the parameters (Preferences/System Resources) in Gimp are too low?

Nidhogg, after your comment I had to search to see the premonition film cover, really something in common :-)

Basically I followed the Gnutux mini tutorial; Thank you GnuTux!
1 - Executed the Pencil Shade Rel07 - Filters - Artistic - Pencil Shade script (Default values);
2 - I placed the 'Shade' layer at the top and changed its mode to 'Difference'. In the 'Line' layer I switched to Normal mode with 100% opacity.
3 - With the 'Shade' layer selected, I make New from Visible.
4 - Now it would be to apply colorize (Colors - Colorize), but I left it without coloring.
5 - Increase the contrast by +10.
6 - Apply [G'MIC] Dream Smoothing: fx_dreamsmooth 1,1,1,0,8,0,0,8,1,24,0 (Interaction 1, other default values).
7 - Invert the color - Colors - Invert.
8 - And voilà

Thank you Mahvin, I fiddled with it yesterday but there seems to be no way to hasten the 'dream smoothing' filter and still get the desired effect

But wait there is a way, Ive added a script speed widget and it works,I ran script on the same image using each of the 3 settings for the results below(slow is the original setting)

Slow

Thanks, will test later. Thanks Graechan for your cool updated script.

Since I downloaded the 2.10.20 again I haven't changed anything. What should I change?

There is no "golden rule" for these settings (it depends on whether or not you are using other programs besides Gimp).
Often suggested setting: = minimum ~ 50% RAM .
You definitely need to increase the "Max New Image Size"
My settings:

Thanks

Must be my computer because I still get the same errors even without the script-fu interface. My Computer is a 8gb Ram and I updated the preferences area of gimp

Too bad it didn't help. :(
Now I think it's not the computer's fault, but the Windows settings.
Your problem (ala for others like Pat625 too) only arises when (most often?) One program calls the other (here is script-fu calls G'MIC).
Unfortunately, at the moment I do not know where in Windows you can check this setting / lock.
Check if my theory fits the facts.
Or maybe some users have already solved a similar problem?
