Not sure it is possible because
before script could not call gegl operations and i am not sure now is changed
I remember was some third party equivalent of c2g that could be a solution ,but i still have to trace it back
Anyway
1 the term Colored c2g may seems a nonsense since C2G is basically to convert at best color images to greyscale
BUT i found the effect really nice somehow similar to HDR and often useful to reveal details

more the concept is really simple :
if possible the script or plugin should
1) apply C2G on a duplicated layer
2) apply a slight blur on the colored original (this is needed to avoid sharp artifact when merging in color mode,
this blur does not blur the final result because sharpness derived from the other layer, the BW layer)
3) switch the c2g layer, in Value mode
4) optionally dup again the original layer and move on top in soft light mode
effect is quite strong , it enhance a lot the contrast without create too false colors
