My first experiment with BIMP (see
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=6306&start=10 )
I make 2 presets to "smartly" scale down images , the steps are the same that in my GMIC filter
(a subtle blur before scaling , amount of blur depending from the downscaling factor .
Work at best on large images as example to scale from original RAW or 3D render image size to wallpaper sizes , )
While the gmic (plugin ) version is more flexible, this may be applied in batch

Use
You should have Bimp installed
That may create ,save and load preset, but as default has not a place to contain preset
So if you didn't already , create a folder for Bimp preset , move the 2 files there
Open gimp call bimp,
and you will not see any way to load preset
Don't worry click on " Manipulation Set "> " + Add" and a dropdown menu will pop out , at the end there is the load/save preset option

the preset
OBVIOUSLY you must chose chose your own images input/output:
