Can antialiasing be added?

My original script properly anti-aliased the letters. Somebody added the "Transparent background" option in a later revision (I never use underscores in my variable names and that option uses the name "alpha_bg"), and it is that option which disables anti-aliasing -- it is not possible to anti-alias against a transparent background with the GIF file format.

Thanks for the cool script, Graechan.

For anti-aliasing, it needs an option to semi-flatten against the selected background color. When selected, the script would semi-flatten each layer against the BG color, leaving the rest of the layer transparent. Having it as an option would still allow saving as an APNG, which doesn't have the aliasing issues associated with GIFs.

Finally figured out how to make different sizes but I can't go larger than 240px.

Just edit the SCM file to change the "240" in the following line (line 157) to a higher value.
SF-ADJUSTMENT _"Ending size";;   "animated letter final size" '( 12 6 240 1 12 0 0 )

Thanks saulgoode
I was afraid it wouldn't work after I messed with it. Even after refreshing the scripts folder I found I had to restart gimp to allow the changes to take affect. I'm sure I could make this bigger if I needed to now. Thanks again.

Is it possible to add a select border around each letter and smooth with a blur? Maybe that would effectively smooth the edges. Oh i didn't see the transparent bg option. :)

If I apply the option "color from gradient" the final result is ever with the foreground color. Why?

Perhaps you are using the 'FG to Transparent' gradient? Try a gradient comprising solid colors.

Molly there are 2 settings that adjust the the text size, a 'Starting size' and a 'Ending size'
if you set your Menu as Below↓

Your animation will look like this↓
