Some time ago I wanted to ask about it.
The scripts to create logos that are posted on Gimp Chat are so great!. I particularly prefer the Alpha to Logo, it gives much more possibilities to work with any image, and not only text.
Well, the problem is that I have many of them installed and they are accessible from different menus in GIMP. And another issue is the lack of preview feature, you do not know exactly what result can get while modifying the script variables.
So what I wanted to ask is, would be possible to make a container for all those scripts with the ability to preview in realtime. Some kind of G'MIC for Logos!

With "possible" I mean: Do any of the fantastic GimpChat users developers could do this program? :)
I guess after having that script container program would be easier to be adding scripts or filters.

It just isn't possible to have previews with scm logo scripts. It is possible with Python. But you are talking about re writing a whole bunch of filters. :lol probably why it hasn't been done yet.

To have this possibility with G'MIC would be cool though. PC is pretty familiar with the G'MIC code maybe he will look into it? Is it possible to call procedures from the PDB into G'MIC code?

garagecoder mentioned that he had thought about doing it
but it is probably a lot of work and im not sure if its worth it

a different approach would be to integrate layerfx into G'MIC (if that is possible) and make it accept "recipes"
very much like in Photoshop

You may call any GMIC filter from the PDB , in the zip of the GMIC samj build there is also a "Gmic.scm" that is a sort of template
(not sure now if that script is updated)

But maybe may be more handy think directly to Gmic logo filter :
gmic can't read font as fonts , but converted the text layer in normal layer may apply any changes, or to the font as bitmap, or even to the font used

Also BIMP may "chain" script, plugins all gmic filters create and save bimp preset is very simple

Huumm thinking better i would open a new topic on BIMP because is really cool but i believe with a little hack (=allow alsointeractive calls may become even more powerful ...

I've found that I can work around the problem of not having a preview in ScriptFu (and some python scripts) by using Ctrl-z (undo) then Ctrl-f (rerun) or Ctrl-Shift-f (re-show). Yes, it's a little more work but you get the actual result, not a preview. Previews are very useful but they rarely reflect a true representation of the final result.

For example, in the EnviroLogo script, you can create the text separately and run the Alpha to Logo option, which allows you to quickly undo, make a tweak, and rerun the filter, using Ctrl-z (undo) and Ctrl-Shift-f (re-show).

The above technique can be sped up by assigning single Alt-(keystroke)'s to the various filters.

This is all too true in most graphic programs. Unless you are drawing directly on the canvas with a filter you pretty much need to experiment. UNDO and REDO are your best friends in this case. :)

I never tried the Ctrl-f (rerun) thanks for that tid bit Tux.

Alas not always rerun works
It does with gmic and most of default plugin script scripts but not with Mathmap ( it run again but not with last setting ued, instead with default ) and other third party plugin and script (as RR_Make seamless )

Nice trick GnuTux!

So, in an imaginary future scm container software, and using what you say in the container code to done that automatically. Could implemented a preview in real time in the same way that GEGL operations works with the preview feature?
