I've created 'Symbol Display' script that displays symbol fonts such as dingbats e.t.c. ready for printing

Image

Output examples below↓

Image

Image

Menu Location is <Fonts>/Symbol Display

; Rel 0.02 - Added a default font to prevent script running without a font being selected

; Rel 0.03 - Changed Menu to allow for optional selection of 'lower case' 'numerals' and 'control characters'

; Rel 0.04↓ - Add control of the original letter size and minor bugfixes, forces selection of capitols if no option chosen

Script is available here at GimpScripts Symbol Display

You are a scream - I'd like to know what I am if you are only a beginner. Can you have a pre-beginner?

Sallyanne and K1TesseraEna as far as gimp is concerned I think I'll always be a beginer
I could never claim to understand much more than this,

Looks cool Graechan; just wish the developers would fix dingbat for text itself. Where do you get these fonts by the way? Are they free? :)

It looks to be very handy. I like to use dings but it can be a real hassle to go though all the images, one at a time, to find what I need.

Where is this script and does it also go though special characters like $&#@? Sometimes, the special characters and numbers are included in the image set too.

Lyle all my dingbats come from Dafont, and windows wingdings don't work
GnuTux the script is now included and adding special characters should not be a problem, I will fix tomorrow

Warning; had to crash my GIMP since it took too long to render at default 750. Would be cool to have an individual character option (i.e., only render on of the charaters in the set instead of the entire set). :)

How long does it take to run your Script anyway Graechan? After 5 minutes and a reduced sized start, I aborted GIMP again. I know you said it wouldn't render Windows dings proper, but thought it would at least render the character set (alphanumeric) eventually. :)

Lyle what dingbat font were you using as the approx image width of 750 is not that big, the default font size of 100 should also be sufficient
if you lower the image width to much you may find your ding bat will not fit across the page and put script in a spin
so I need to see the dingbat file you were trying, could you post also a image of it using my font display script

Lyle I think I found your problem (you didn't select a font before running script) fixed in Rel2

A link would be cool (even though they may be free, there may be copyright issues and I don't want you to get in trouble; lol). :)

Thanks; loaded them and you are right; they do show up right in GIMP. Wonder why Windows Dingbats don't. They did so in GIMP 2.6. :)
