I've finished a possible candicate for Rel3
; Rel 0.03 - Added option to also save the layers as .gbr brushes
Image
this will save the layers as .gbr brushes to your brush folder or to a directory of your choice

Nice addition, Graechan.

Would it be possible to do the font in a color and have a transparent bg?

Thank you Rod and 'O' although I'm not sure what you mean 'O' because .gbr brushes take on the F/G color, and the Rel3 changes I propose will save the DingBat Images as .gbr brushes to your User/user/brushes folder or a folder of your choice so that you can move the entire folder to your brushes folder or brush manager

although in Rel3 The script can save individual brushes to a folder of your choice it still saves the Image hose to your gimp-user/brushes folder

Now I use:
- Open the *. gih
- Save layer as *. png
- By BIMP (bath) use the procedure plug-in-colortoalpha

Wishlist:
1. Option - save as transparent
2. Layer name - the name of the letter + font name

I trust you already know the shpped-with-gimp plug-in to create a Brush froma text?
file->create->new brush from text ?

It is similar to the plug-in described, but requires one to type a phrase. A brush is generated with the letters in that phrase, with the chosen font. You can draw them with any tool os brush dynamics you like. If you want one letter per layer, just open the resulting .gbr file.

in the photo below I've use a nautical themed dingbat to create an image hose which I then used to stroke a border around the photo's edge

Graechan, I really appreciate your updating the script. I hope this isn't going to be more trouble, but when I use the .gih made by the script, the letters are intermingled with the symbols from the font. Am I doing something wrong?

Graechan - very good to see your post today. Hopefully they will continue, especially with many scripts not working in 2.10 ;)

But this script always did work on 2.10,2.8 and 2.6 it's that simple and uses no plugins
