You should keep in mind also that this shadow filter works best on caps or fonts that do not have p' , y's ,j's and the like lower than the rest of the letters. Otherwise the shadow effect doesn't look correct. The shadow should be darker and less blurred where the shadow begins and more translucent and blurred as the shadow progresses or stretches outward from the type.
You can also create a nice looking glass shadow effect with light in the center of the shadow. Such as when a glass has a shadow on a table.

I would like to see this as a compiled C plug-in though and have a preview.
