It is a combination of two plug-ins Adrian Likins font-to-brushes.py and font-to-image-hose.py
For Linux: http://www.adrianlikins.com/misc/gimp/
For Windows: http://registry.gimp.org/node/18273

and two scripts by Saul Goode [special thanks]
http://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=9511

Tested only for Windows (for Linux may be enough to undo the amendment Mahvin ??? ).

The installation: Font-to-svg-and-brushes.py to directory plug-ins, Sg-font-to-svg-files.scm to directory scripts. [ In menu Gimp Filters -> Text -> Font to svg and brushe ]

This might be a dumb question, but what is the advantage in converting a font to svg. Fonts are already scalable and in GIMP, it's easier to work with fonts than with svg files. What am I missing?

MareroQ, an english version of your script and plug-in? I have difficulty with English, can you imagine my difficulty with Polish, is a beautiful language but i don't know it. :(
I tried to translate menu entries on your files but don't work.

Of course - but for the fun of creating comics and logo - as for me it is a great convenience (for example, see the font that I want to use ...)

Thanks for the explanation, MareroQ.

I'll play with the scripts and see if I can wrap my head around what is achieved here, aside from making brushes from the fonts.

Seems it would be useful to have a script add each character in the font to a layer, then alpha to selection, selection to path, on each layer. You could then use the various path & layer tools to create your design. Perhaps that is one goal of what is occurring here?

Yes - exactly for this purpose it is intended plugins (brushes *.gbr and *.gih- it's just a small supplement...)
