This script can do highlights, Inner shadows and carved text it was only used by myself to add effects to text until Warrior spotted the effect as used in my Emap logo script, and GnuTux included a menu and some options to it so to give it a post of it's own Ive Released it now here,
it's suitable for 2.6, 2.8 and 2.10 (with all current PDB calls)
Example of highlight before and after

I tried it again, First I used the eviro map, then ran the Tux-Graechan hi-lite, duped the text and set it to multiply.

That is beautiful, Molly. I need to start getting more comfortable with the enviro map stuff, it really makes text good, especially with the highlight script!

Thanks 2-ton... I still haven't figured out all the settings yet in these newest scripts by the dynamic duo. :teeth

Excellent! This script deserved its own thread.

I've added one more option, that is to blur the Highlight layer. Blurring can soften the hard edges of the highlight and when the blur amount is set a little higher, say to 15, you get this kind of Highlight..

Image

I've went ahead and placed the Highlight script on GIMP Scripts and updated the 1st post in this thread with the link.

Graechan, many thanks for making this available as a stand alone script. It is the perfect companion script to 3D Extrusion and for that matter, many other Text Effect scripts, as well.

(GnuTux just manages to tag Graechan as he flips over the top rope)

Thanks GnuTux It's now a flawless script and I like the blur Option as it gives a more subtle result

Thanks Graechan for a great script and to GnuTux for improving it. :bigthup

I'm wondering if Highlighting text could be applied to multiple layers and used as a video title?
Something like this on a moving background.
Image

I think I know how to do it. Put the title at the top of the layer stack> rename it "Layer [fg]"
Process AnimStack tags and then Image>Flatten Layer Groups.
That should work. :)

Just save your final tittle as a 32-bit png, then overlay it on a video track. You could get more creative if you use track masks...
