I know I'm going to look like a noob for asking this but somehow I forgot. What does that white line in the curves menu for? It's embarrassing because most of you that know me know I'm not new to Gimp, It's a stroke thing, I can't remember some things when I want to.

when you use the curves tool, the mousepointer becomes a colourpicker
when you click into an image, the line appears where the colour is on the histogram

Yup, that's right, I wanted to make sure you understood it. I'm not full of mind altering drugs and I remembered that part this morning.

Maybe this video to refresh your memory http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDJ-vqyJhzc&feature=share&list=PLk7vje7OIEcHgG6iqKRZhG9tjajjKFyO-

Another option, with a different approach: http://blog.patdavid.net/2012/07/getting-around-in-gimp-more-color.html
Enjoy!
