that works well if there is a chromatic contrast between the object and the bg ... i think gimp may do better in more difficult cases

oh and a very simple but neat animation effect ,this it is really a old utility ,never updated from 2006 but still works with 7, at least in compatibility mode , ...very simple but i always found its reflection effects really neat ...

And also this should be possible , there are already similar effect in gmic but not really equivalent

No i am not thinking to try to code any of those soon, i 'm too busy trying to update my old filters

Normally i just use the Tintii 8BF filter with PSPI, but it isn't free for Windows users like your options.
The Linux version of the Tintii software is free though.
