Nice charts!

They give a good visual reference of what to expect when the parameters change. :bigthup

Oh darn, finally got around to trying this, and when I go to the environmental map tab, no joy. I get and empty where the map drop down box is, even though I can see it in the workspace tabs.

2-ton have you checked if the enviro-map has no alpha-channel ?
because thats a must !

if you have opened an enviromap with an alpha channel, it will not turn up in the dropdown menu
but as soon as you remove the alpha channel, it appears in my Gimp

@ 2ton - In addition to what Esper said..

The emap image included in the resource zip at the bottom of the first post should not have the an alpha channel and the EnviroMap script removes the alpha channel when it renders the map.

Have the text and bumpmap layers open in one tab and the environment map open in the another. Click the text tab and select the text layer, then open the lighting effects filter and the emap should appear in the drop down.

@Rod - That is sweet. I love the organic look of the whole thing. I think you might be able to get the pattern you used to appear with a little more resolution if the emap of the pattern was larger. An awesome result, though.

Some excellent results seem to be resulting when the environment map is used to color and highlight the image, then a pattern is overlain that result, using a layer mode. :cool

Excellent results on that one, Esper. You got a great shine on it and the highlights are not overly saturated. :sglasses

ImageYes, it was the alpha channel. I made my own environment map, and for got to remove the channel. I got carried away with playing with colors, too. I wanted to add the plastic wrap filter but couldn't find it, lol.

Esper, there was a filter that made stuff shiny and plastic looking. It's the filter that people used to make guts look all wet and shiny.

no really, there used to be a script called "plasti-wrap" or something close to that. Someone must remember that, right? I think Fencepost was the one who used it for an animated guts.

Thanks Molly, I wonder if it works in 2.8, although if shine or Glossy stroke work, I guess there would be no need for it anymore.
