last year i sent my brother a very simple birthday card - i made a cthulhu colouring-in page and used rod's lovely crayon script to colour it in. charmingly naivistic, i thought (it's
here on gimp chat if you want to see it), and my brother liked it too, so i was happy. but this year i've done something that i think shows how i've developed over my year on gimp chat. i've used so many techniques on this that i don't think i would have learned if i hadn't been on gc. one of them, for example, is using the lighting effects filter with added environment map. i never really managed to get any good results with the lighting effects filter before, but between gnu tux' tutorial
here and one of esper's tutorials (that i can't find the link for - help me brother, do you know which one i mean?) i've now started to understand it a tiny wee bit better.
anyway, here's the card! it's based on one of my old knotwork pictures that i really like and want to use for more things. i'm posting it to my brother today and i think he will like it
.
