Soooooo here's something I've never done before, I'll be making my own game :)
I'm doing a study called 'GameDesign', just had my first real school week, and I already have to make my own game within 10 weeks xD

The title is: 'Lost in a Dream'
It's going to be about a boy who is stuck in his own dreams and has to wake up again by solving puzzles. The genre will be 'Point&Click adventure', so you will only be using your mouse, and the style will be cartoon-ish.

The main character 'Max':

A swamp. I will change the fire, but after that this one will also be used in the game.

Unreal, rocky landscape.

That's the concept art I'll be showing for now, I'll probably post more soon ^^

Good concept and the artwork is great. It would be nice to be able to design a game of my own. I started on a mod for might and magic 6 once but there was so much to think about and I had to work in hex which was a real headache! Good luck with this.

I hope your comes out nice! :D

As for the concept art, he's very cute! I like how you colored him. :>

Indeed it is a big project, but a lot of fun, always wanted to make my own game :) I will be using Construct 2 to make the game, so you don't need to know programming and such, that helps a lot too. :P

I've added one of the landscape concepts to the startpost!

baukjespirit: :jumpclap :clap :paint really nice work on the character and landscape. i love the style of them and unlike in many point and clicks i have tried the character seems to go very well with the environment. details like that are important to me :). best of luck with the game project - hope you can share the whole thing with us when it's finished!

Thanks a lot :) I do hope I can share the game here, but only if you guys are interested in trying it, lol :P
I've added a level design, it's not fully done, but it will be one of the levels when it's done.

Very nice! Indeed a balance of Darker and lighter levels will make the game have more intrigue.
I was recently given an old free version of gamemaker but it doesn't know if it likes me yet so...I hope you get further than I am in the game making process. xD

Thank you, I also like strong lighting in backgrounds and stuff, definitely makes it more intrigue indeed
Haven't heard of Gamemaker.. you could also try Construct 2 if Gamemaker is not to your liking. I've been working with it for one time or so and I already think it's pretty simple :P

Erisian:
I don't know yet how I'm going to do that, but I'm sure I'll find a way to share it

BaukjeSpirit,
You could launch this game with your availability for other languages! I think here in GC has people from various countries and that could help with this.
Being your first game, I think there would not be many texts / menus to be translated.
Well .. is an idea! ;)

Well that would be cool but also a lot of work. And because this is my first game and only a school project I will make it in english only. But who knows, maybe my next project  Anyways, thanks for the idea!

I will post some more soon :)

OoOoOoOoOo..!
I like this level too! My only thing is I think the swamp bog should look a little more wet or add some more lighting from the fire, this looks a little (to me) like a very soft fabric mostly. Granted Swamps are quite "solid" with mold and stuff so maybe I'm just being picky. xD

I love the atmosphier it's very well done! :D

Nice work! I like your fantasy yet semi realistic style a lot! :D

Lovely swamp - lots of atmosphere. Get the right sound effects and it'll be amazing.

Your work always amazes me. Keep it up!
BTW: What platforms will your game support?

Mokonafan:
Thanks a lot! I really agree with you about those details! I will fix more details if I get the chance, 10 weeks isn't a long time to create a game so for now on I'll focus more on different things (like finishing all the backgrounds and animations, they cost a lot of time xD)

Erisian:
Thanks! I hope I will get them right, I do have some ideas about sound effects, like bubble sounds in the swamp level with animated bubbles and such :P

mikethedj4:
Thank you! You can only create games for the iPad, browser, mobile phone, facebook and such with Construct 2, so it will be a browser game ;)

I'm not sure what you will use for sounds but if your musical keyboard has sound effects it might help a bit.
My keyboard has like over 100 sounds not including the musical instruments and stuff. lol
