Today was a play and practice day! Pictures then edited to look better killed the colors but the white background was really needed...These are bore OVER contrast but I had to make the background white so... :S

First I played with a few patterns using random materials such as colored pencils and markers, paint was last...This is what I came up with for a few patterns and random things.

Image

Next I worked with watercolors only, which killed me! I'm a mixed media person and I was dyingggg. :gaah :lol
I learned many new things today! I learned if you put "shading" in a wet mass then take all wetness out of the brush and spread the paint it blends much better than a sopping wet brush! I learned to make/paint fur!!! And I had to NOT use pens or anything in my self made challenge so I learned how to make something that looks good w/o black outlines.
My only liberty I made was I started with a simple sketch (Like the eye shape with a shine and pupil).

Image

All paints are an 8 color tray of Crayola watercolor paints, and white crafting acrylic paint.
Paper for both 11X15 watercolor paper.

Between these two things this took me hours! It took me about 5 or 6 hours I think, maybe less like 4...Idk exactly but it was hours! :lol

But I learned a lot so...Yay!

Some New Things:

This time I was using only Niji tubed watercolors.
I used a pencil to sketch and a fabercastlle watercolor pencil but it's hardly noticeable.

Enjoy!

~ God Bless ~

Fun stuff, the first group stands out.
Your better at playing than most people are at trying.

mokonafan: lovely!! thanks for sharing the result of your play and practice, i wish people did that more often, it's so inspiring to see other people play. you did great on that fur, and now i'll remember that thing about the watercolour shading! i love all the playfulness of the first group too, a feast for the eyes.

aha..I don't know about all that  but thank you for the compliment. :hi5

I was sooooo proud of that! Since all I had was a nose/mussel and a oval around it, and ended up with fur! I was so happy. xD
Thank you I'm glad you liked it! :D

Thank you I'm glad you liked these! :D
Wellllllll, I felt kinda bad to do these without doing an actual picture, I'm a cheapskate I'm scared to waste money. xD
Maybe other people will feel the same way. The shading technique was like such a  Bingo! Why didn't I think of that sooner! I hope it helps you too. :>

I thought the first part would be looked at as infantile. xD - I'm glad people liked that one too. :D

In the second group I like the eye, the ear and the whiskers. Put them all together and you'll have the makings of a cool cat. Great work.

Thank you! :D
I kinda wanted it to fit "fall" but I think it looks more a semi realistic attempt at a Truffula tree. xD
