Kubus 2 is a little planet close to the Central Sun of Kirljan galaxy.

The Kirljan Galaxy is populated by a melting pot of races from the most advanced civilizations , and is the base of the trades alliances ,conspiracy and conflicts of a few dozen of surrounding Galactic Empires

So may be strange that the SETI project of Kubus 2 , after a few million years of systematic research for intelligent alien life forms ,could not find nothing .

Image

And the failure may seems even more strange considering that from a couple of millions years most of surrounding planets keep on sending endless series of daily messages and ambassadors on Kubus 2 ,

Some believe the failure may be caused by a too restrictive definitions of "intelligent alien life form " used by the Kubus folk

First they suppose alien intelligence should know a bit of math , at list a very little bit as the sequence of the first 20 numbers:
Kubus numerical system is duodecimal system build on a cycle of 20 Kubuslian numbers (as we start from 1 to 9 ,they start counting from the cubic root of -1 to the cubic root of -19 and so on) and they can't imagine any other intelligent numeric system

Then they also suppose Intelligent Aliens able to understand geometry , at least the most simple geometry:
Kubus geometry is based on superknots :
a super-knot is created by trivial intersection of groups of super-strings in a 17D space , then trivial intersection of super-knots create the most basic Superquilts and so on )

And of course they suppose intelligent lifeforms even be able to communicate, if not would be not intelligent but idiotic life forms !

But in Kubus "communicate" and "be able to whistle fluently Kubuslian" are synonymous ...they could not image a different language to communicate so they always filter out messages not whistled in proper Kubuslian language

Now they decide to increment the activity of their SETI projects, to build new transmitters and more powerful receptors in the hope to find some finally find some sort of alien intelligence

Image

And since they have almost nothing else around then intelligent life-forms, because their planet stand in the very middle of one the most trafficked and crowded galactic crossroad we may hope that soon or later their search will be successful !

Nice to see how many different cool effects you can achieve with the three-dimensional fractals. :)

As regards the fascinating story you appended, it made me remember what the famous physicist Michio Kaku once stated about the chances of any extraterrestrial forms of life.

According to him, there are quite certainly several advanced alien civilizations across the whole universe, but they intentionally would ignore and disregard our planet while being aware of its existence, since they would find the human species irrelevant and not at their outstanding level of technology. :(

It is sad to believe that things are like that, so I'd rather think that, if aliens really exist, they are not so contemptuous towards us.

I really like the one with the purple background. It blends well with the oranges and yellows that stand out so well.

@Gino

About Micho theory such esteem for technology , as we intend , may be our rare characteristic

Western civilization has a long history of total failures on perceive intelligence if expressed by other cultures .

Just after the discovery of America were the first debate the question was if the native were to be considered human or animal,
missioners believe them human even if no much intelligent (they should believe natives human, if were animals would be pointless try to convert them and they would loose their job) but most of bishops and cardinal believe them animal (so they may be enslaved
without broken the 10 commandment by their clients ,the Spanish and Portuguese conquerors )

More or less same happened with Africans and even Asians ...may seems absurd now ,as it seems hard to sustain that the Taj Mahal , the pyramids, or the Cambogian Temples of Angkor Wat where built by idiots ,or that Indian and Persian classical music is just sort of random noise , yet was widely believed
and this concepts were supported by a long list of"scientific" arguments (= African/Asians/native American have a smaller brain, or underdeveloped area of the brain...or...) by many respected scientist of the times.

But...did you remember the "universal message" from SETI a message that any intelligent being should be able to decode ?

Image

Now i did many random test , and till now i never meet a single human able to decode that thingy, even if few guessed that be a poor template for a crochet work or for a (wannabe) decorative embroidery ...

photo comix: :hehe i love their definition of communication! i love the pictures from kubus 2 as well - number 3 is my favourite because there is a detail in it that i can actually decode - my letter, woohoo! and i thought the colouring in that one worked better than in the earlier too - though it is a bit annoying that there is a chip missing from that third one while the first two are complete.

btw, have you been to this planet, by any chance? their constructions remind me a bit of the kubus 2 SETI-constructions:

Beyond all the issues regarding the alleged superiority of this or that civilization in the universe, in the end the real problem that prevents us from contacting or at least detecting any extraterrestrial intelligences is represented by the huge distances that separate stars and galaxies from each other along the space known to us, let alone the one unkown.
This awareness fills me with sadness and a certain sense of impotence, but it would be even worse to think that we are deliberately ignored by someone out there. I hope it isn't so!

I forgot to say that the outcome I prefer among those posted is the first/second one. Did you colour the surface of such fractal by using as a texture the GIMP gradient through the spyral shape? Because it seems so at first sight.

@ Anmal
thinking better i am afraid that , even if at the unconscious level , many Italians may share a similar definition of communication

I don't know if you never was in Italy, where obviously are many understand English,(French a bit less )

this happens often
you got lost , or anyway you need some information so since you don't know any Italian except then "ciao" and "pizza",you ask in English, or in French or whatever language you use to communicate.

Alas, nobody around there can speak English, but then something surprising happens!! :wow

they will understand you are a stranger , so they will adapt their speech , talking very slowly, making clear each syllables and vocal and repeating twice each sentence, deeply convinced that sufficient to make you understand Italian !! :rofl

What even more surprising is that often works !
Not really because you will understand any of the words but because the body language ,often emphasized by very theatrical arms and hands gestures and facial mimic may be sufficient to express even complex concept as
" Lady don't worry, : the Metro is closed but there is a bus stop just here and is coming a bus making same way of the Metro"

even more easy if you asked a direction, phonetically often the reply could make no sense, yet will be a adapt soundtrack for a sort of mime show , where a series of grim and arms and hands gestures will illustrate in any detail and beyond any doubt the path to follow to get to your desired destination

Hem again i got spaced in a narrative flow..and diverged from a proper reply

@AnMal yes ...that planet remind me something, nice one !

@Gino
M3D give a amazing control on lights and colours , gazillion on options including use of maps (any jpg o png may be used as map, for several options is not relevant if the map is seamless )
In this case i didn't use a map , M3D has a very cool gradient editor

there i just started from one of the proposed light preset, the pattern is also related by the structure of the object (more exactly to the orbit trap )
