Seeing the recent posting of games reminded me I made a gamemaker game a long while back, my own version of asteroids:

http://silent9.com/blog/archives/121-Ga ... Roids.html

The objects were rendered in POVRay a with gimp cleanup and enhancements:

It still runs on XP, but I couldn't get it to work on windows 7 :(

It doesn't say in the notes, but shoot is ctrl, the rest of the controls (l,r,thrust, shield) are the arrow keys (l,r,u,d)

Tried to run it in my XP VM but the graphics drivers don't meet requirements unfortunately Rob. Still, your screen captures look quite awesome. Maybe those with Linux can get this one to run via WINE. :)

Just confirmed that it won't run in 64-bit Win7 capatibility mode either; just high cpu cycles. Oh well. Gave it a try anyway. :)

For some reason I can see your screen shot, and I have windows 7...but maybe I can put it on a USB key and play it on an old laptop. :3

EZ-ROIDS sounds like a hemorrhoids medication :lol. Anyways this was my favorite game as a kid. Always in the arcade beating someone elses score. :)

Worked for me with Windows XP 32 bit.

Now just tell me where thrust and fire are on the keyboard and i will be a happy camper. :)
Gotta go to work right now though. Excellent graphics Rob. :bigthup

Cool game :D

It worked under WINE, although I don't get any sound.

Forgot I had 3D acceleration disabled in my VM (youtube won't play when this option is enabled and I've not figured out why). Plays pretty good until the spaceship killed me. lolol

Anyway, got a screenshot before I disabled 3D acceleration (2D acceleration only; has to be for youtube videos to play. At least Virtualbox finally fixed bridged network so I now have native network speed so my uploads are fast again). If anybody comes across a solution as to why youtube videos don't play with 3D acceleration in Virtualbox XP VMs, please feel free to share perty pweeze. lolol

:)

AHA! Should have re read the first post sooner and would have realized CTRL is the shooter key. :lol Still only got a top score of 413 though. Heheh. :)
Love the shooting phaser sound.
I have one request. Can you re make it and give my poor little ship a shield as it reappears. :lol
This is a great new toy.

Thanks Rob!
