I don't really want to use the word "resolutions" as I just don't like it but thought it might be a fun challenge for people to interpret what they hope for in 2014 as a piece of gimp work, I use the word work because it can be anything from a painting to a photo enhancement.

I'm posting early to give you some warning of the thread but do feel free to post throughout the year not just at the beginning.

Look forward to seeing what will emerge.

Good idea, he4rty.

I've got plans for a photo manip to mark the anniversary of the start of the first World War. I've got a clear idea of what I want to do and how I want it to look but I've already got a problem with finding free images of battlefield scenes and anything else to do with the years that the war spanned. I did plan to ask in a different thread if anyone knows of a good place to find WW1 related images but this seems as good a place as any to ask?
The piece won't be about who won or lost, I don't believe any one side did, but will be about the pointless slaughter of all the brave soles who died, whichever colours they wore.

In Bing Images, type in first world war one. You might not get many pictures that are colored but that is where I would start looking. http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=The ... ORM=RESTAB

Thanks, Molly. The list of images does slim down once I add the creative commons licence to the search results but there's still at lot left to look through.

I would like to once and for all learn how to program in Python so as to finally be able to create some interesting plugins for GIMP. That's a goal I always tend to delay for many reasons, the lack of time being the main one.

There are also a few new scripts I am working on for quite some time and I still don't bring myself to finish and then share, first of all because I am a little perfectionist over my works, secondly for the inevitable difficulty in writing each script's documentation and dialog window not in my native language.

Lastly, one day I would also like to try writing a tutorial to share on these pages. :)

You already have a gift when writing your script documentation, I'm sure a tutorial would be more than welcome! :bigthup

Thanks, Odinbc.
It took me months to write that documentation during my freetime. :keybdtype

Hopefully I will be not so slow when I possibly decide to write a tutorial. :rofl

This is a completely different image to what I felt like composing prior to the Christmas Break, Life has had it ups and downs over the past few years, mainly downs. I had become very despondent and unmotivated with life, everything had become a struggle.
My original idea was to show the word life as a jigsaw puzzle being broken into piece and me standing there trying to rebuild the puzzle but failing. Then today some friends posted various things on Fb and I received a few Emails that has now led me down this path, I slowly began to realise that I have been trying to build back the puzzle on my own and yet with my faith and hope I don't need too.

So here is my image for 2014 and my new wallpaper, The photo came from here and the font used is "Bend 2 Squares OL2 BRK", I can't give you a web address for the font as I found a packet of fonts(430) on ubuntu's synaptic package manager.

Carlos, I assume the text spells out maker not maher. The k does look very much like a 'h'

Psalm 121 verse 2 = My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

Carlos Diniz - Sallyanne is right the text say "Maker" but the K does look a lot like H.

Thanks for all the comments but to be far I only added text to an image so nothing very creative on my part.
