In 1.5.7.2 there is a category called layers. It is in there but I don't know about the new version.

@Graechan
look in the gmic Flickr group , were changes in the layer modes but the old definition are still supported so your script , (and my GMIC filters ) still work

Anyway were 2 basic changes 1 regarding the syntax

The other is that the Layer modes were ALMOST all removed from the plugin menu , (or hidden really well..not i believe removed because i explored well
luckily is not a problem because may be added , by end users again using a combination of "Custom Code" (that allow to use most of command of GMIC Command line from the plugin , and Fav, to get back inside the plugin menu

I am surprised that nobody complained about the removing i used very often combined with the various Input/output options of gmic
but then i was even more surprise that so many are using gmic from years and never without never noticing that the input and output may be something else then the active layer .

I am wondering if the case to compile a version with different default for output , replacing with "new Layer(s) so maybe somebody finally will notice that option its potential

Speacking of many options. Has anyone used ImageJ? It's a Java image manipulation tool mainly for medical and other science related imagery. Anyway, it has a really useful little gadget that you can open and quickly search for all (I think) available commands, anything menu related gets added there.

This feature I think is missing from both GIMP and G'Mic, both of them have too many menus, commands and stuff, so I think both should benefit from such a thing. ImageJ is open source, so those who have an interest may have a look at how they solved it. :)
This is too stupid!. I have to obfuscate the friggin' uri?! http 'colon-slash-slah' rsb'dot'info'dot'nih'dot'gov'slash'ij

So, now you have to figure it out. :(((

Try this

Attachment:
links-script-fu_RD.scm

You can find it under G'MIC>Help but you can edit this within the script to suit your needs. The script opens any browser url within your default browser (you can add more links if you wish).
This one opens the G'MIC online filter tree list which is updated daily by David. Using this you can quickly find the filter or effect you are looking for within G'MIC. David also added some more links to the About menu item. :coolthup
