I used fisheye on the text. It's better if your text is a little smaller than you want the finished text. Right-click the text layer and Layer to Image Size.

Filters > Generic > Mathmap > Distorts > Fisheye.

In the User Values move the slider to the right to where the text looks good to you.

I saw this tutorial, then thought I might add the effect to my new splash screen for GIMP.

I am not entering this image, I am actually working on a different image for the contest. I'll post it after I have submitted it, probably mid-week sometime. Thanks for the comments. :)

You gave me some ideas to play with, mahv.

Original image here.

I bumpmapped the penguin image (changed the settings - Elevation was made a very low value), then after that I used the B&W Ink wash filter in G'MIC and that layer was set to Value mode.

Thanks everyone. :D I have been making textures or fabric pics and changing the color so I wondered about the bottle. hehehe I did a new one without the bottle. One of my textures I created in gimp. I like to learn something then experiment. Still lots to learn though. :)

Thanks, O. I actually did this once when I first saw the tut last year, but I re-did it to add a Dingbat arrow instead of the stroked-path arrow I originally did. The tutorial is so easy and simple to follow it takes longer to select the glassware image and write the text that to work through the tut!

Thanks for posting the original tutorial.

Nicely done guys!
Gimp definitely needs a script or filter that does this.
