I've been wanting to replace my crystal mouthpiece (clarinet) for over a year now (last one broke on me at the stem during a very cold outdoor Christmas concert). I waited that long just to make sure it's not an impulsive purchase (in the interim, I've been using a $120 rubber mouthpiece which is good, but not me). I paid over $180 for my last crystal mouthpiece back in 2005. I just ran across this cool new technology called the Wizard and had some correspondence with folk at Pomarico and they pointed me out to one of the companies that actually distribute it (not yet available in the US). Even with shipping, it only cost me shy of $150 so I'm very happy. Just had to share. lol

Yes, it changes colors based on the ambient light; how cool is that. lol

:)

Wow, you don't get those for an Irish whistle - I'm jealous!

No I'm not flamboyant. I'm just loud. lolololol

Going to hopefully enjoy this one for a long time Erisian. I believe Captain Piccard played the Irish Whistle on Star Trek as I recall. :)

lylejk: oooh, colourchanging mouthpiece - that's a real lift for any wind instrument, i'd say :)! i'm sure it's worth the money - what you spend on an instrument usually does feel worth the money.

Wow, that's cool. I don't play any blowing-type instrument, but I wish I could get a tip like that for my e-cig...

I didn't know you played the clarinet, Lyle? The only wind instrument I've ever reasonably played was the trumpet.
That is a pretty cool mouthpiece, I guess you've already tried it in the dark?

Just ordered it today Odin; because I had to order it from Europe, and, because I didn't splurge on the shipping, I don't suspect it to be here anytime soon. :(

Still, Pomerico said that the company that I ordered it from is quite reputable so I have no doubt that eventually I will receive it. :)

The tin whistle is a traditional French instrument, as we all know :) Since Piccard is supposedly born near Lyons, his traditional instrument is more like a hurdy-gurdy ("vielle à roue", in French).

My whistles are decorated with sailor's knots. Much more in the style :)

I didn't know that, I had assumed it was Irish, but then I'm surprised at how much cultures have mixed when you look deeply into history.

Way to go Lyle. I know a girl here in Australia who plays a clarinet. I wonder if she knows about it yet?

Doubtful Sallyanne; the company literally just released this one a short time ago; not even offered in the states yet hence I had to buy it from a European company that they directly sell these too (again, emailed the company itself and they pointed me out to the distributor that they sell too there). :)

"Playing the clarinet" always sounds like a dirty euphemism to me...

In French it is (especially if it's a mustached clarinette).

Having so much Oriental in me makes it very difficult to grow a good mustache so I don't, so, that means I must be clean DD/Ofnuts. lololol

I don't know enough about playing the clarinet to tell how good this "crystal mouthpiece" is, but as long as you are happy then congrats on your buy! :)
