GIMP Version: 2.8.4
Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: Basic Level


I can't seem to get my text tool to work. When using the text editing box that doesn't seem to work either. Occasionally I can enter text but am unable to change size, color, font. I haven't use GIMP for about a month it was working fine before that. Please let me know if there is something I'm missing.

In 2.8 You need to highlight the text you want to alter

I'm pretty sure it's not a bug, never heard of such a text tool bug on Windows.
Many things that you might be missing. Don't even want to start describing them all here.
Need your Gimp to look at. Could you at least post a screenshot like Graechan did?

It seems the only way to enter text is through the Text Editor. I've never had to use that in the past. Usually I'd type directly in the text box. This screen capture won't explain much. I do use an on-screen keyboard because of a disability, there may be issues with that.

If you drag your cursor over that ABCDEF, it will hi-lite it, then you can enlarge your text, space the text or change the color. Is this what you are having the problem with? If you want to make just one letter different, you can hi-lite just that one letter and change it.
You don't have to use the text editor, just unclick the box beside it and try your text without that.

I re-installed GIMP and seems to be functioning properly now.
