Hello,

I apologize if this is a dumb question. I've done a lot of youtube searching and google searching and can't seem to find the answer to this. When I scale an image, it scales but when I try to export (Using Gimp 2.8) I get the original size image, not the scaled one. In all of the tutorials I have watched, what I am seeing as the difference is that mine creates what I believe is an Alpha Channel? On all of the tutorials, this doesn't happen and it is very straightforward process where they just export and that's it. All I want to be able to do is save the newly scaled image. I have attached an example. Thanks for any help.

Did the image fill the whole layer before you scaled it? I was wondering why part of your layer is transparent. Which scale tool did you use. Did you go to image > scale image? or did you use the scale tool in your tool box.
Do you still have the xcf that you can post here?

It looks like your scaling only a Layer not the image.
Make all Layers to Image Size and then use Scale Image to resize.
1. Layer | Layer to Image Size
2. Image | Scale Image.

Yes, I believe it is filling the whole layer. I have attached the XCF file post scaling (It said the pre-scaling XCF was too big so I couldn't upload it). Thanks.

What you suggested with layer to image size and then scale image worked with one image, but won't work with the attached image.

Did your picture fill the whole layer before you scaled it? It looks to me like you used the scale tool in the tool bar. You only have the one layer in your xcf so I can't see what you did.
What size was your picture when you started, and what size did you scale it to?
I have never seen anything like this before, almost like you shrank the picture but not the layer.
I cut off the transparent part and it is now 1037x1186. What size did you want it.

I was able to get the cruise one scaled down using the method "Odinbc" suggested but it is not working for the second one I posted. I am just trying to scale to 65%. Thanks.

Odin, there is only one layer, but half of that layer is transparent. Did you see the xcf?
