If I take it of single window mode i can without the script-fu menu disappearing otherwise the entire gimp GUI becomes the active window putting the script-fu menu behind and covered up

That's interesting, Graechan. I can add a procedure to the script-fu interface to keep the dialog above all other widows. It should keep it above everything until your run/cancel or close the dialog.

Maybe it will place it above the taskbar, too. That would be cool. :hehe

Molly, can you drag and drop in Windows (single windows mode)?

I still don't know what you mean by drag and drop in this menu. When I open the fire script, it opens on top of the main menu, I can drag the corners to make the sliders appear. What am I supposed to drag?
O, I just re-read this again. Are you asking about how it works in Windows? I will go back over there, if so.

Open any script that has an option to select a gradient (or a font). Then move to your tool options area, where your list of gradients or fonts are displayed. Grab a gradient (or font) from the list and drag it over to the script and drop it onto the gradient (or onto the font name).

I can drag a gradient over, but it doesn't drop.

Are you dragging it from the list (or table) of gradients. Make sure you drop it right on the gradient.

ok, I used a different script, it works in the one I just tried. It didn't work in the fire one. I pulled over a purple gradient and it worked.

That was in Windows and using single window mode?

I tried it on the Fire Script and it worked. There are two color options there so maybe you tried to drop it on one of those.

Sorry Tux, I had a heck of a time getting over to windows, I had a blank screen for about 5 mins. then my new gimp-2.8.10 changed to black again and now I can't get into any of the scripts I want.
I will post here when I get it figured out what is going on.

Did someone compile the new version for Windows 32 or 64 yet?

Not yet. Have got your devel environment setup yet?

Also, when you bring up a script-fu dialog, move away from the dialog and click somewhere in GIMP, does GIMP come to the front, moving the script dialog behind (single window mode)?

Thank you, Pogogogo. There are two new versions up there for testing V.5 & V.6. Could you please compile both.

Thanks again!

OK, I am over in Windoze now and I installed a lot of my scripts and plug-ins I was missing here. I opened three different diaogues where you have the option of changing the default gradient.
There is no way that drag and drop works on any of them. All the windows go behind the main UI and it is frustrating to say the least. Is this a windows only thing or can the scripts have keep script dialogue in front?

BTW Tux, what is going on with pengie, he looks to be laying down on the job and he is now wearing shades with his head on the keyboard.

I will stay here in windows for another 15 mins, then escape back to Mate where I belong. :hoh Let me know if you want me to try anythang else while I am here.

Thanks for testing, Molly. I believe the behavior where GIMP comes to the front and the script dialog goes behind, is another GIMP for Windows bug. That doesn't happen in Linux. I've added some code in V.6 of the script-fu interface to keep the dialog on top. I'm interested to know if the code also gets it out from behind the Window's task bar.

Yep. Ol' Tux is plum tuckered out from all that dancin'. :rockon

He looks like he had too much to drink and his eyes are all blood shot, hence the shades. poor guy.
Anyway if there are no more instrucs while I am here, back to Fedora I go.

Tux the dialog does indeed go to the back when i click outside but all the rest do anyways. They always have for me. Where ever the focus is and that's normal for Windows.
I still need to get Glib installed and see what i can do. I wish there was a way to compile just the plugin itself.

Molly, I think the script-fu-interface-V.6Beta.exe_win_x64.zip in this version of Tux added a piece of new code, the window always on top.Version 6 also includes changes made by saulgoode in version 5.
Thanks to Tux and Saul!
