Glass Effect Text V1.4 script creates glass effect text of any color. It's based on the tutorial by Ron Scott located here

Download Version 1.4 of this script here.

You control the opacity of the glass and have full control over the shadow layer.

You can also choose to display the glass text with or without a patterned background.

Here's some examples of what can be done.

I plan on adding some some color animation effects in the next release of this script.

I find I get the best results when the text color is not to bright or too dark, but you can experiment with various fonts, background patterns and shadows. Post your results here!!

Installation
Download and copy the script to your Gimp /scripts folder, then refresh.

The script is under File/Create/Logos (gimpchat.com) & Filter/Alpha to logo/Glass effect

Enjoy!!

This glass script is one of my favorites. Thank you GnuTux!

It's versatile. You can dress it up or leave it plain and it's still beautiful and unusual.

The first flower I used color number 007ac6.

The second flower I selected the glass layer, right-clicked, then Alpha to Selection. In the paths tool I stroked the selection with the butterflies brush. It gives it a pretty stained glass effect.

The third flower, I used the Text tool using the same font and size, made another flower shape and centered it over the glass flower. Then with the Text tool still selected, double-clicked the flower so the Text dialog was back, and clicked Path from text. Added a new transparent layer above the text, then stroked the new path with the butterflies brush.

I will be writing a tutorial about how I made the brush using icons. The butterflies brush is attached here for you to download. Unzip it into your gimp2.4/brushes folder.

Oy, it happened again. The script shows up in the xtns on the tools menu bar and will only do the word Gimp, in a new window, no matter what text I try to run it on. Here is one...I tried to run it on the text layer with my name, this is the result.
What? I uploaded the pic from my computer and it won't show? So I tried again and it said that it's already there, somewhere. It's sure not in my post, lol.

Look in File > Create > Logos (gimpchat.com) for it now.

THe only filter I have there is one called Frosty...which I loaded up a long time ago. The lava and glass are in Xtns only. Does it make a diff that I use gimp 2.4?

Drat. How can I use them in 2.4? Or perhaps the old scripts are available somewhere? I just am not in the mindset to upgrade my Gimp until I have the time to take care of problems that might crop up in an upgrade...and sort of waiting until new on next year.
