Made a new folder in Gimp 2.8 folder for environ maps. I saved a couple from the resource page to it. Wnet to save more and I couldn't find the folder......Did a search of my C drive for it and says it is in 2.8. I minimised everything down and opened up user>gimp 2.8 folder but still couldn't find it. I assume it should be there in aphabetical order with the other folders - looked through them all (opened each folder up) and even after files and didn't see it.
I know I can do it again but if my computer says it is in there why isn't it?

Found it!

Do the search again, and when you find the folder delete it. Then retrieve it from the trash and put it somewhere else.

Kept looking Wallace. I found it - I had sandboxed it in another folder of gimp 2.8. I should be ok if I follow the address for where it goes now.

That good. :bigthup

Speaking of misplaced files...
I recently, by accident, found an image I downloaded a long while. Of all the places I could have found it, I discovered this image in my "Windows Fonts" folder.
If you don't know, the windows fonts folder only displays fonts and nothing else. I gave up looking for it, not thinking that it could have ever found it's way into this folder.
Needless to say that I was surprised to find it there after so long and I did what I described in my first post to remove it from where it was.
Of course I now no longer need this image for anything.

I think we have all done it a time or two.
I found some of my scripts and plug-ins here [/home/molly/.gimp-2.8/] instead of [./home/molly/.gimp-2.8/scripts/] OR [./home/molly/.gimp-2.8/plug-ins/]

Yeah...
At least where you found your files it had something to do with where the file might go. To find an xcf file in my "windows fonts" folder. Seemed like such a strange thing to me, and the fact that this file was there for more then 2 years was even stranger.

Heehee. What with the skrinky little limited-view dialog windows and Microsoft's love of keeping the user from knowing where they are at any time...fun ensues. Best I ever found -- on someone else's computer -- was a program installed in a Windows system restore partition, alongside an empty folder that didn't belong there either. My own occasional "Oh beans!" usually happens when I forget that I last saved something in an odd place from a program that likes to be helpful by remembering it for me.

And then there's drag-and-OOPS. Boy, they're the best!

Seriously, though -- sometimes I have to comb other folks' hard drives for salvage, and this reminds me that it pays to look in unlikely places.

I have one, it's called "A Girlfriend", but it's not very reliable and it's definitely not free. :hehe

It's ok Wallace. It was laughable/silly thing to happen. But then it's also good to know I am in good company - (not alone in losing files)
