Do any of you techies out there know where I can look to fix my pc from the pointer locking up?
When we go into a site on the internet, after a few minutes or so the pointer locks up, then turns into some other pointer then, the only way we can get out of it is x out and the message comes up "program not responding"

Never heard of this problem before but maybe one of you guys might know.
Thanks, Molly

It may be a bad connection that makes your browser wait for an answer. What browser are you using? Or your PC is hosting a nasty. Do you run an antivirus?

I'd recommend testing things with a different mouse. My experience has been that such intermittent freezing is most often caused by a hardware failure (but then I don't use Windows).

thank you guys. browser > FF. Yes we do run the antivirus

We will change the mouse from the cordless to a regular one to see what happens. We already did the air duster thingy and that did help with the sound of the fan. It was really racing....

Something may have gotten changed if you installed a recent program.Maybe you can try a restore point.
Try and restore to the last known date you know the mouse was working. If it is in the mouse settings, that should fix it.If that doesn't fix it, then it is most likely either the driver needs to be updated, or the mouse hardware is faulty.
Have you been getting all your computer updates when they come available?

Yes to all your questions Rod. Done them all.
Here is what the error says every time it does it but I don't know how to fix it.
Image What a bummer....

Tried 3 different mice. Did the CCleaner, and registry cleaner, did the restore, did them all.

If you haven't shipped it off to the repair shop yet, here's something else you might want to try:
If the problem is only occurring in Firefox, then it could be a problem with an add-in or plug-in, or even with Firefox itself. The easiest way to test this is to start FF in safe mode, or possibly try the site in IE.

Usually if it is a hardware problem, it will affect all usage on the computer and not just one application - meaning that the mouse would not work in your word processor, or Explorer, etc. It may also be a corrupted mouse driver, but again, it would affect all usage on the computer.

Also, is it only one particular website, or is it any website? There are some sites that send so many images (for example) that Firefox seems to stall; a site may also be sending malformed commands that is making Firefox "lock-up."
