You must remove the .txt from the File Name = export_layers-0.6.py
and if you are on linux you need to make it executable..

I installed this, and can't find it. I know it's supposed to be at File->Export Layers->as PNG, but it's not there, haha.

Did you place the file in "C:\Users\Warrior?\.gimp-2.8\plug-ins"?

I had trouble getting this to work until I renamed all the layers, from Layer, Layer #1, etc. Then it worked fine.

Before renaming all the layers it made copies of the only layer I had renamed, so instead of 20 different pngs, I had 20 identical pngs.

All is good now. :)

That's odd that this would happen, glad you got it working now.

oops- I take that back. I tried it again, with a different xcf, after renaming the layers, and I got multiple copies of the top layer, which was turned off. I moved that layer to the bottom and it is now, as we speak, making the png files. What is strange is that a file icon for the turned off layer appears, then disappears multiple times. I moused over one of them before it disappeared, and the file size was 0.

The end result was correct, so that's all that really matters.
