Thanks Molly looks like a resonable service.
I tried it and it wouldn't let me go past the 'Run' window.

What a pain huh. Well, someone will come along and get to the culpert. I don't have any problem in Linux but in windows, it just keeps throwing errors with everything I try. These are my last tries this morning in windoze. I tried with and without the .exe.

I figured I will check my computer's health Molly. Then if all is good I will maybe try another gimp program and get rid of the one I have now. Something I have done may have corrupted it. Most things work fine on it as is but could be that too.

I could change the code a little so that it only refreshes patterns if you select the 'Save Pattern' option, but this doesn't fix the underlying problem of a corrupted pattern file somewhere

Note! :the pattern will be still available to use from the clipboard, and you could save the modified Image as pattern to wherever you like

Molly I'm not changing anything really I'm just reorganizing the script so that it only refreshes the patterns if 'Save as Pattern' option is selected then those with corrupt patterns can use the pattern that's on the clipboard and won't get any error message

One fix for this is possibly removing all the pattern and image files and deleting the patterns folder. Right click in the .gimp-2.8 folder and select New>Folder and recreate the patterns folder. Place the patterns and images back in the folder and try the script again. Deleting the patterns folder should delete also the database file. Windows usually keeps the thumbs.db file invisible.
