Do we have to resize photos first when using larger ones?
I see you have already answered this question.

Very nice sallyanne, nice idea using the original picture for the background.
Did you try lowering the opacity on the bg so it wouldn't conflict with the array? just an idea to try.

Perhaps this filter does not work in my version of G'MIC (1.5.8.1.). After 5 attempts always end up showing an error message. :(

@Akros, The GMIC is now up to 1.5.8.6, if you download that and then refresh your gmic, you will have the filter

Hi Molly, thanks for the reply and the link g'mic.
But my version has this filter! :hoh
Only it does not work properly, even using the default settings, it crashes and gives the error message. :gaah
I had updated the g'mic not long ago, and do not like doing multiple updates constantly.
So I will wait a few more months or wait until next year to switch to another version of g'mic.
Thanks Molly :tyspin

Now I am really confused, you are talking about the Montage filter, it was just added yesterday, look on the first post. I am wondering now, is this a new update to an older version?

While the filter Montage may appear in an old version of Gmic the nuts and bolts to make it work might not be there
David used 1-5-9-0 to create his demo video (hint)

I've added new possibilities for the 'custom layout' parameter, allowing rotations and mirroring of images.
Here is an example of a quite complex layout string :

and the result :

Thanks DAVID!
One humble request: is there a way to have the "custom layout" described in more plain words for simple-minded people (like me...)?
