To me, gun control is good, but to me gun control is hitting your target!

Seriousely, If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns! I am a proud member of NRA!

I like your way of thinking PM. :)
I just firmly believe we should have a right to defend our lives and our families lives anytime anywhere.
It makes me want to scream when i hear of some guy robbing some poor lads house and getting hurt while doing it, then sueing the poor owner of the house for negligence.
Too many laws have gotten way out of hand, too many precedences, and too many uncontrolled judges who think their job is to create laws.
We only need a few good laws to keep control of the riff raff imho.

My country is not in the list.
Luxembourg which is smaller is.

Not sure where you're leaning, Gerard, but simply looking at a chart of firearm deaths doesn't show the entire picture of what's happening. It tends to skew reality. Most European countries aren't racially (ethnically, whatever's PC) diverse. Not to mention population density, cultural rivalries, and governments that induce/promote/inject fear into it's citizenry. Nor are those EU countries saturated with greed based advertising that media outlets tend to project for ratings benefits. Those advertisements tend to focus primarily on all the evils and none of the goodwill variety. Americans live in fear, because the government and corporations make money off of it.

The USA, for example, is its own worst enemy. If you took away all the guns, as someone stated before, the only ones with guns would be the criminals, and the firearm deaths would be even higher, no doubt. Just look at our "war on terrorism". The terrorists don't frighten me nearly as much as my own government does, by making otherwise illegal actions legal, only when those actions serve them (e.g. invasion of privacy scans, and groping by TSA agents at our airports). Are we really safer? No. Any terrorist, if they really wanted to, could bribe some schmuck baggage handler/airport personnel to accomplish the task of loading a bomb or chemical agents onto an aircraft. Scanning my body, invasively, and molesting my body parts, physically, won't stop a terrorist. They must be laughing at us.

But getting back to firearm deaths, and taking a gander at the top country, South Africa. Lawlessness the whole answer? No. This is much like Arabs and Israelis. You got two factions that absolutely detest one another: Zulus and Xhosas, an unpopular political group: ANC, extremely corrupt police forces, very high drug and human trafficking (considering its location), extremely high poverty rate, revenge retaliations, and the list goes on. Pretty much the scenario of Mexico, current day.

America, on the other hand, you have a climate of fear, government and corporation induced, making someone's bottom line. And sadly, Americans buy into it, willingly, like sheep. They should remove the "United" from States of America, because we are anything but that.

well remain the basic problem that criminals and policemen are too often 2 different categories only in theory not in pratice

Before jump and react, think to Germany and Italy in the 1940 were policemen were taking care of jews and oppositors, same for Soviet police under Stalin

and back to here and now think to the Police of Gheddafi, or in Zimbawe, or in Afghanistan, ...or what Police did in Chile under Pinochet,in Haiti under Duvalier , in Nicaragua and so on and on and on...

Simply if the Policemen are under strict control of a real democracy you may (in most cases ) trust them..but never if there is a dictature or a corrupt leadership...they will become more nasty and dangerous of the criminals, because criminal can't kill without risk as who is trained to "obey without discussions"

And about democracy, both Hitler and Mussolini got the power because they win with large majority the election, both were supported by the great majority of the population...as too many of the most bloody dictators

Yeah; Hitler made sure gun control was in place before he felt confident enough to round up the Jews. People forget this, but ever since I heard the story, I became an anti-gun control person i.e., I don't believe in any gun control). Sorry if some here do, but our founders knew men and governments can be corruptible and put guns in civilians hands as a protection mechanism against possible corrupt governments. Even in recent history, those in New Orleans during the Katrina episode that had the ability to protect themselves were the ones that didn't get hurt (i.e., the ones that had guns). It's just a simple fact that the police can't be everywhere. Again, guns don't kill; people do.

To PC, that's why the U.S. is a Republic and not a Democracy. A Democracy is ruled by the majority (mob rule), where as a Republic is under the rule of Law (i.e., even minorities have a base set of rights that the majority can't touch). No Democracy ever lasts long since they majority finally realizes that they are in control and can spend more money on themselves. So many times has this happen. Even Republics sometime succombs to those in favor of Democracies and then that becomes their downfall. Until the Lord comes back, a Republic is the closest thing to the perfect form of government that mankind can have and even it is far from perfect, but I'm greatful that we here in the U.S. are under Republic for of government. :)

One nation under God.Ask Russia what happens when you take God out of your country?
Say goodbye to all semblance of morality, because it will be out the window. Not to mention a few other countries lately.
There are way too many real Christians here in the United States to ever let some liberal fruitcake (just a little nutty), person try and take God out of the equation. You saw what happened when they tried to take "In God we trust" off our monies. Most will never have power in congress again.Or any kind of monetary help.Christian people make up most of the voting UNITED states.
Sorry Mahvin but i have to disagree with you that The United States isn't UNITED any longer.

A house divided will soon fall. That's why drug lords kill each other, it's God's way of pest control imho.
But when they flow into my families lives, they better watch it, because then they step into the realm of my righteous judgment that God would want me to protect my family and my self.

Well in the first amendment we have the right to bear arms, and cause where I live guns are a bad thing, but save your life on a day to day basis, if you don't use your gun one day that's considered a good day, even when you get jumped, the thing is I believe in the right to carry a gun if you have the legal rights too, know how to use it responsibly, and can hit your target. Period!

I honestly would hate it if only cops had guns, cause out here their to (excuse my french) chicken shit to standup against the gangs, and violence, but they'll sure as hell kill a pitbull, cause of some old hag saying the dog is trying to tear down her fence. There's a difference between aggressive, and energetic. That happened on my own damn porch last year when the cop shot this homeless dog, who just wanted water, and I got locked up for 2 months for putting the cop in a triangle choke. (My criminal record is bad, but mainly it's be assaulting police officers)

What's so bad is if you have any kind of food or beverage and you're walking outside, you better finish it fast, cause if someone see's that they'll jump you just to have something to eat, other times it's nice necklace, shoes, pants, sun glasses, watch, etc: that they steal in order to sell, and make a living, some people keep them, but most of us sell just for some money.

i could add a basic surviving rule:
if you get robbed, attacked, punched even stabbed never point a gun if you are not ready to use it and if you don't know how

because once to point a gun if your opponents don't run away immediatly you must shoot and don't miss the target...if not good chances you will be not robbed or raped but killed

and if you are not expert you must shoot to kill, and have the guts for it (legs and arms are a too difficult target, no hope of success if you are not well trained...and if you shoot somebody and he can still move he will do his best to kill you, even if he was only searching 20$ for the crack )

Honestly i would prefer offer my vallet
