GnuTux I hope you are successful in compiling Twist as there are a number of scripts that use it

Excellent. I probably won't have to compile it then. It's already done. :hehe

Been exploring this subject for a while now on and off, you'll find the results of my experiments in these two tutorial threads

Sphere Cube Tutorial
Mapping Text To Sphere (2 Methods)

So using ideas from these two tuts have managed to come up with this..

But if you map a chequer board pattern then you can see a lot of work still needs to be done.

Image

For those interested you need to get your image to map to this style grid, try the example below in the map object filter and it maps perfectly.

Thanks for the info, He4rty. Very informative.

That 600x300 image appears to be a sphere mapped to a plane. If I were to setup a camera and take a photo of the reflection in a mirrored sphere, I wouldn't get what was being reflected on the backside of the sphere, so I only need a viewport of about this much of it.

Image

Which maps to the viewable area of a sphere.

I got this result with mathmap.

Graechan provided me a copy of them, Molly. I plan on upping them to GIMP scripts.

Here is the Linux_x64 version, which works fine in Fedora. Unzip to your plug-ins folder and ensure it has execute permissions.
