I tried to keep the same shape of your bacon, I thought it would facilitate comparisons.

The top piece is made from an old gradient of mine, the bottom piece is from a Wallace gradient.

lots of iwarp tool, smudge, and then bump map, dropped shadow.

That's an Interesting technique you used.
