Beautiful results, Molly. :yes

Don't forget to try out some of the other settings. Changing things like detail level, horizontal & vertical texture size and enabling turbulence, and of course gradient and Map Type, can produce some really cool effects. :hehe

Also, changing the blend modes can produce some really interesting results. :pengy

Updated to fix a major problem where a manual selection was ignored in the Alpha To Logo procedure. With this feature corrected, you can apply different environment maps to the same image via manual selections, as in this example...

EnviroLogo V1.1 is available for download on GIMP Scripts

Also, got a pretty cool result from the following emap. Applied Lighting Effect a 2nd time..

I tried making the text with a pattern instead of a gradient... Is there a way to add patterns to the script Tux along with gradients? I think some of the patterns would make very nice environ maps.
My try came out a little on the ragged side.

Yes. I think I could add an option to use a pattern instead of a gradient in this script. The trick to using a pattern or image to use as an environment map with the lighting filter, is that the created map needs to be several times larger than the text/image you are mapping to.

Thanks tux. I only made the map 600 x 600, I guess I should have doubled it. I have some real nice patterns that I would love to try.

Yes, 2, 3 or more times the size of the image is needed for best results.

I was never able to as good as results by using patterns or images as emaps because of the way the map is stretched by the lighting filter. You can see what I mean here.

Perhaps the fish-eye style images, similar to those used in the MLBevelReflect plug-in might work better. It's worth testing. :hehe

Well I tried it with a 24 x 24 green pattern. It works but it just doesn't give the shine that a gradient does. I tried curves and levels to no avail, Oh well. I tried :teeth

Well, with patterns, you don't necessarily want the result to be shiny. I kinda think conventional methods of mapping patterns or images works better than using environment mapping, unless you want a specific special effect produced by environment mapping like this.

One cool way to use patterns along with the emaps is to use the same blending technique used to get metallic looking paint, like this.

Thank you, I will stick to this method to get the shiny effect. Always more ways to skin a cat.

Was this script updated? I'm just curious. If it was, I'll go download the update.

No. This one wasn't updated. The EnviroMap script was updated to support spherical maps. It might be interesting to update this one to make use of the MLBevelReflect plug-in, as an option. I tend to avoid creating scripts which rely on other 3rd party scripts/pug-ins but considering it would only be an option, I might make an an exception for this one. :hehe
