Thanks Sallyanne, I finally got the flat map thing, I just selected a little piece in the upper left corner and deleted it to make it transparent, then I got it to work without the map background. I really don't understand how that can make a difference, but it works.

Nice tut tux, was going to have a quick go but in my haste tried to BRL my Map layer by mistake which completely crashed gimp, so I'll have a look another time.

That looks great, Marcello. You made a very creative map that works. :bigthup

Molly, I think you got the shiny you were after. Your result looks like glass. :hi5

He4rty, I hate when that happens. :gaah BRL can go into a long processing (or infinite) loop when the target layer isn't what it's expecting. I can usually still get to the other open images/layers and save them, which is one saving grace of GIMP. :hehe

Thank you,
I forgot how you said you get your text so nice and fat. I use a nice chunky fat text but no matter how large I make the layer, the text doesn't get any fatter. grrrr
Did you use another script to get it like that?

I don't do anything special, Molly. I just use wide fonts like Berlin Sans FB bold, Mousou Record_G & Black Fox. I used TEST a lot in these examples and since it's only 4 letters, I could make it big. :hehe

That is freaky, especially with that background.

Yes. I think so too, Molly. It has a very shiny surface on the text. :bigthup

Just one of my many fonts I have never used, but just thought I had to have. I should try some of the grunge fonts to see what they produce with this method.
This one is did with the blue flat map and the Florabet Font.

I think it looks cool too, what I mean is when I scroll past your images the backgrounds move around. I hope it's not only on my screen. :?

It does it on mine too. That pin stripe pattern is really cool. Scan-lines pattern added below for anyone interested.

Nice variations, Molly. That Florabet Font is really cool. :cool

I've been working on a rectangular map to produce a shiny gold result. So far, I have this one variation..

That is really nice and shiny, (and fat :teeth), This is getting more interesting all the time.
It looks like you used a gradient on the top half and a gold satin on the bottom, makes a very nice map.
