Hello.
I need to separate the head from the background and add other color. I have tried with Alpa to Selected but this doesn't work. Can I do that.
I need to cut that with smooth cutting and not with rough cutting.
How do you doing that. Tell me.

Thanks for helping sallyanne You can tell me how to do that.

Sorry I gave you a wrong round image. My real image has a head with shoulders, neck and upper arms. Something like this one. It needs to look like a photo after I change to other background.

Couple of ways it could be done Lurifax. G'MIC has a new interactive foreground extractor. You could use that or if you want to spend a bit more time on it. Circle select then select > invert and delete. This will delete most of the background but you will still have to erase the rest away. (Closer bits)
I can do it for you if you need

Give the very regular shape, use the Path tool to create a selection. The fewer anchor points; the smoother the curve.

I did this using a layer mask in only a few minutes.
I duplicated the image and added a layer-mask to it. Using a soft brush, I painted black around the outside edge of the head and shoulders.

Thanks all of you.
Wallace you paint but not littering with paint on the face and head. Perfect. I try that. Thanks.
Lurifax.

You're welcome Lurifax73.
Layer-masks are very forgiving, if you make a mistake while painting with black, just paint over it with white on your layer mask to bring back that part of the image.
