Made for a birthday card. :)

Two of my recurring characters: Blackback the troll-merchant and the "troll girl". Blackback is an old RP character of mine, great memories of him.

MyPaint + GIMP.
I've already delivered this to the birthday child, but comments and feedback is always appreciated. :)

I wish I had one-tenth of your artistic talent and vision. Every work continues to amaze me.

Wow Griatch; another well done rendition of your favorite troll girl. Only you have the ability to make trolls look beautiful. :)

Love the way you create serenity with a soft light powder blue sky with white cotton puffy clouds, soft sunlight rays, and vivid wildflowers. Are the other flowers a type of water iris?

It seems Blackback has a smile and is content. The trollgirl's entire bottom half of face is dark, a slight lip crease might impress a smile more than the darkened area.

My opinion is, if he is comfortable, she should be more so, so her smile should be just as evident, if not more so?

In any case, I love the picture and your work. Your work always impresses me, Griatch.

It's the colors and texture you use that continue to amaze me.So much depth.
The way you use dark colors to create brightness in your work.
This one even looks vintage to me. :)

Thumbs up from me Griatch!

There is only one thing that bothers me. The waterfall is so small in comparison to the rest of the picture. If the bank of flowers to the left of the waterfall were cut smaller and the waterfall and stream widened at that point, I think it would look more proportional and in better perspective. The waterfall would be a short one but more proportional to the painting.

The image is beautifully done. I like it very much.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! Some good feedback there - I'll reply to it when it's not 3AM in the morning. :)

Such a serene feeling in this image! Dreamlike.

My favorite parts are troll girl's hair and the hat.

Minor nitpick, Blackback's pose is a bit hard to figure out.

The feeling is very beautiful.

I think it is great Griatch. If I could only come close to doing what you can. :) It makes me feel all relaxed too.

I will go back to do some changes to the characters, due to critique here and elsewhere. I didn't really intend them to be smiling too much though since the idea is to show them sleeping/dozing, not hugging. It's kinda difficult to show the sleepy slack-jaw in a troll though ... ;)
The flowers are a type of water lilies I think.

Thanks for the descriptive pointer! I see what you mean, not sure I agree that it's proportionally wrong. The waterwall could well be wider but the problem is moving the edge further to the left might put into question the height relative the water at which the trolls are sleeping. I'll look into it. :)

Yes, I need to go back and add some more explicit shadows there. Thanks!

I painted it from scratch. If you look below my signature, you'll find a host of tutorials I have written on how to go about painting on the computer. :)
