Hello everyone. I have some basic use with Gimp for a while, I have had this program for about 3-4 years now. Im still learning new things today (even if its just simple things).

I want to change this suit texture. The first thing is to remove the stripes, but i can't seem to find a simple way to do this. What I had in mind was to just one by one, airbrushing it out, but with all those lines, its going to take forever.

The 2nd is to change this suit texture into leather. I tried overlaying a leather texture from google but the shadowing and lighting are barley visible when merged, which just makes the texture look too flat on a model.

I have multiple things to do as of now, so any help, I would really appreciate it

GIMP's own Filters > Enhance > Destripe... does an OK job on them, but for the main body of the coat, G'MIC's Repair > Unstrip filter did a better job. I locked the layer transparency, selected each region of the textures separately and ran either of those filters, playing with the settings until it looked OK. For the topmost region of the coat, I rotated the image 90 degrees before filtering.

As for making it into leather, well, the original texture looks like it's meant to be a dark but slightly shiny dress fabric, while leather might be shinier or duller (depending on treatment). Did you want black or brown (or other) leather? The starting point to editing it might be different depending on the goal.

Nice job, Clouds! And with the Ministeck too.
You're obviously fairly adept with both Gimp and G'Mic.
Why not tell us a bit about yourself in the "Introduce Yourself" forum, then everyone can say hello!

Spoiler tags should only be used for their intended use. That is for joke punchlines and such.
They are not used for creating smaller posts and / or hiding images. We don't mind long posts here. :)

If you want a leather look try adding a selection of the alpha filled with the leather pattern provided with GIMP install and set to overlay mode.

I used the FFT/inverse FFT in G'MIC to clean up the pinstripe without much attention to detail :P, then a desaturated layer filled with the default leather in addition mode at 50% opacity.

I have downloaded this GMIC and it did wonders (Thanks Clouds for mentioning it). I had a 1st person sleeve texture and it removed those stripes. It did such wonders.

Since the suit already looks nice with out the stripes so i just went ahead with it and ditched the leather. I still had to remove those damaged/ripped spots on the cloths but its all done. Now i just have to finish up editing the model.
Thanks everyone.

Glad to hear you got good results. I'm a little surprised it seems like you hadn't heard of G'MIC before; this very site has a forum dedicated to it. If you feel like it, have a look and see what else it can do. :)
