Hi all!

First post here, hope you can help me.

I am trying to recreate the attached pattern but much larger. How do I go about doing this from scratch?

Thanks,

James

Wow, I would like to know that too... It looks like something done with paths which is ofnuts specialty.

With my path-inbetweener script:

  1. create a wavy path with the path editor (green)
  2. duplicate it
  3. with the path editor, transform the copy without adding any new points (just move existing points, anchors and tangents)(red)
  4. use the script to generate the intermediate path (blue)
  5. merge (or not) the resulting paths ("merge visible paths")
  6. stroke (or not) the resulting paths

That is exactly how I created this image below. It's not a carbon copy but it pretty close. I did however use the stroke/fill visible paths script to stroke the paths, using a 1x1 dot brush.
The image looks better when viewed at full size.

I made another one just to prove that it wasn't a fluke.

I've seen brushes like this, but they are all just kind of what you see is what you get, kind of brushes. Like they just took the line images and made brushes out of them.

I would try:

1) make a row of spots set as brush with a very small spacing
2) use a tablet
3) use dynamics: associate brush size with pressure, and brush orientation with direction
