@2-ton:
The layer numbers are correct - the number is the angle (in degrees from the horizontal axis) of the "spikes" generated by the Star Effects Filter. eg. if you set "spikes" to 4 when you run the filter, it will generate 4 layers with spikes at 45, 135, 225 and 315 degrees respectively.
These layers are usually automatically merged-down at the end of the script and the resulting layer renamed "Star Effect", but in this case something went wrong and the merge-down never happened.
You seem to have lost "layer45". This may be related to the error messages. What were those messages? Can you reproduce them?
Also you appear to have a layer (Layer #5) above the Star Effect layers. Was that layer there when you ran the filter? If so, that may have confused the script. I had this problem while Graechan was developing the script, ref:
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=11883&hilit=Star+Effect&start=50#p161219You could try running the script again but make sure that the active layer (upon which you are invoking the Star Effect filter) is in fact the topmost layer in your image.
