I downloaded this script. I unzipped the folder and put the script in the scripts folder.
I open up Gimp and the script is nowhere to be found. I' am using Gimp 2.8. Any help is appreciated here.

Look in File > Create > Patterns
Did you get the latest version?

I downloaded the one on the first page.
I will download this one and see if it shows up in Gimp.

If i have any issues, i will report back.

I' am having issues with the script. I received an error message. Error while executing Bokeh_Effect_version2:

Error: ( : 1) Procedure execution of gimp-context-get-brush failed

Please check both your scripts folders (system and personal) to make sure you haven't got any older versions of this script installed.
On Windows:
C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\share\gimp\2.0\scripts
C:\Users\yourname\.gimp-2.8\scripts
(If there are any older versions, just delete them.)

If still no joy, do <Image>Help>Plug-In Browser and enter "bokeh" into the search field.
The first (or only) item found should read "Bokeh Effect Version 2.3"

BTW: precisely which version of Gimp are you using - is it 2.8.6 or 2.8.10 or 2.8.14 etc ? (If in doubt, do <Image>Help>About to display the version number.)
